Here in The Un-named Western State (TUWS), the same situation would have resulted only in a lively debate amongst the kids about the best brands for utility versus skinning, and folder versus fixed blade, and then perhaps liner lock versus others--with several being brought out of pockets and sheaths, for comparison. If you live in one of the liberal Nanny States, then my advice is simple: vote with your feet.
