I post letters from readers that in my opinion are topical and would be of interest to most SurvivalBlog readers. I particularly enjoy posting letters from overseas readers. For example, I'd greatly appreciate reading the insights of folks who are are currently surviving economic collapse in Zimbabwe, secessionist turmoil in Kashmir, convoy IED attacks in Afghanistan, or kidnappings in Columbia. E-mail your letters here. Note that becuase of space constraints we can only post a fraction of tehe letters that we receive.
Anyone sending a letter or article grants the right for posting, reproduction,
or
any other
use. All writings must be original works and the copyright will become the
property of SurvivalBlog. I regularly get e-mails from readers with lengthy
lists of questions. I do my best to answer them, as time allows, in the main
SurvivalBlog
thread. But be advised that by doing so, I am foregoing the income that I would
otherwise receive from consulting. (I charge $100 per hour for consulting.) I'm
willing to do this because I know that what I write will probably help dozens
of other readers, and not just the individual that posed the question.
If you quote another source (web site, blog, newspaper, magazine, newsletter,
book, et cetera) within an e-mai o rarticle, either directly or paraphrasing,
then you must properly
cite the source. (Including
a URL link, if
available.)
I always
want to give credit, where credit is due.
Please keep in mind that if you send me an e-mail, that it will be assumed to be with your permission to post it, unless you include in the header: "NOT FOR PUBLICATION:" Furthermore, with the understanding that your letters may be posted, please take the initiative to edit out any items that could compromise your privacy. (Such as your name, location, and so forth.) Unless you want your name printed, then please end your e-mail with your initials and perhaps some vague reference to where you live, such as: "J.T. in in Arizona." or, "The Northeast Firefly." Parenthetically, I should also mention that I promise not to post your e-mail address or sell it to the V*agra people.
I reserve the right to reject or edit letters for typographical errors, foul language, blasphemy, racism, anti-Christianity (or bad doctrine), anti-Semitism, and assorted off-topic tin foil hat rants. If you see "[Rant Snipped]" in a letter, then you'll know that someone crossed the line.
I also regularly edit letters to conceal the identities of their writers, which might otherwise be compromised by the letter contents or contextual references. But please make this easier for me, by doing so yourself.
Why no “autoposting” of replies or forums? Because A.) I wouldn’t have the time to moderate the posts and B.) I know from past experience that if I were to allow autoposts, it would quickly degenerate into a venue for flame wars. So I pick and choose the letters that are posted, when space is available. (It’s my ship, and I’m the Captain. Sorry: TANSTAAFL.)

I'm not a guru. I'm not a prophet. I'm just a guy with an opinion and perhaps the ability to extrapolate some trends. YMMV.
I do know how the world will end, because I read the last chapter of the book. Come swiftly, Lord Jesus!
Yes, I have advertisers.
Disclaimer (per FTC File No. P034520): I accept cash-paid advertising. To the best of my knowledge, as of the date of this updated posting (May 15, 2012), none of my advertisers that sell the products mentioned in this article have solicited me or paid me to write any reviews or endorsements, nor have they provided me any free or reduced-price gear in exchange for any reviews or endorsements. I am not a stock holder in any company. I do, however, benefit from sales through the SurvivalBlog Amazon Store. If you click on one of our Amazon links and then "click through" to order any product from Amazon.com (not just the ones listed in our catalog), then we will earn a modest sales commission.
I also gratefully accept contributions to help cover the expense of web hosting and bandwidth.
I fully expect all advertisers to sell only top quality products, to provide timely delivery/service, and to maintain reputable "Golden Rule" business practices. All advertising contracts are subject to termination at JWR's discretion at any time for any reason, with of course a full refund for any unused advertising days (pro-rated.) Don't disappoint me and I won't disappoint you!
Also note that several of our advertisers have overlapping product lines. We believe in competitive free market economics, so we do not offer any "exclusives", "non-compete" agreements, or "protected territories."
I was under strict orders from the late Memsahib to keep the location of the Rawles Ranch private. All that I can say is that it is "Somewhere West of the Rockies." Nor can I mention the names of my children. I'm sure that you can understand the security concerns that go along with our survival preparations.
Note: I only provide my Vonage phone number (with a different telephone area code than where we actually live) to pre-paid consulting clients. Click here or on the Contact button for further details.
